FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
About the Syringe Method Kit
Q: Is it safe to insert the catheter into the uterus?
A: This product should be used by inserting it into the vagina only. Do not insert it into the uterus.
Q: Can I wash and reuse the product after use?
A: This product is for single-use only, and reuse is prohibited. Please dispose of it after use without reusing it.
Q: How should I dispose of the product after use?
A: The syringe, semen collection container, and collection sheet are made of plastic, and the catheter is made of silicone. Disposal methods vary by local area, so please follow your municipality's waste separation guidelines.
Q: Where is this kit manufactured?
A: All products are made in Japan.
Q: Does this kit have an expiration date?
A: There is no expiration date. This kit is a general medical device (one where the risk to the human body is considered extremely low even if defects occur). Since the display of an expiration date is optional, it is registered with the medical authority (Independent Administrative Institution, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency) as "no expiration date."
Q: Is the product sterilized?
A: The catheter, syringe, and semen collection sheet are sterilized. The semen collection container is heat-sterilized during manufacturing.
Q: How will the product be delivered if I don't want my family to know?
A: The product is delivered in a plain cardboard box with generic labeling (labeled as "miscellaneous goods" or "medical device container" depending on the region) so that the contents are not identifiable.
Q: Is it okay to use lubricating jelly?
A: The safety of lubricating jelly depends on its specific ingredients, which we cannot determine. Please consult with a medical specialist.
Q: How long after semen collection should I inject it?
A: Inject the semen into the vagina promptly after collection. ※If semen (sperm) is challenging to draw up, allowing it to sit for approximately 10-15 minutes after ejaculation will liquefy it, making it easier to draw up compared to immediately after ejaculation.
Q: Will this method affect the health of the baby?
A: The syringe method (intravaginal insemination) is a method of injecting semen into the vagina, similar to natural intercourse. Therefore, we consider the risks of miscarriage or birth defects to be entirely separate issues.
Q: When is the best time for conception?
A: Conception is most likely from 4 days before ovulation through the day of ovulation (according to the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology). However, since it is difficult for individuals to pinpoint the exact ovulation date, we recommend timing intercourse within a 5-day window that includes 2 days before and after the estimated ovulation date.
Q: Who is the syringe method recommended for?
The syringe method is recommended for couples where both partners are physically capable of natural conception but face difficulties with intercourse for various reasons (such as dyspareunia, ejaculation disorders, or psychological erectile dysfunction), or those who find it challenging to maintain regular timing due to busy schedules or pressure.
Q: Who is the syringe method not suitable for?
A: The syringe method is not suitable for those who have physical difficulties with natural conception. Specifically, this includes women with ovulation disorders, tubal factors, or uterine factors, and men with spermatogenic dysfunction such as low sperm count or poor motility.
Q: How deep should I insert the catheter?
A: The vaginal length in Japanese women is reported to be 7-9 cm.※ For Prement Syringe, insert only the catheter portion; for Prement Syringe Ring, insert up to the stop line. If you experience pain, do not force insertion and stop use. If you have concerns, we recommend consulting with a physician.※Reference: Japan Society of Cancer and Reproductive Medicine "Reproductive Function."
Q: What are the benefits and drawbacks of the syringe method?
A: The syringe method is recommended for those who find timing difficult. It also supports those experiencing dyspareunia, ejaculation disorders, difficulty with intercourse, or pressure-related sexual dysfunction. For women with uterine or ovarian issues, or men with low sperm count or poor motility, combining the syringe method with clinic-based treatment is recommended.
Q: Is the syringe method a safe procedure?
A: The syringe method is a safe procedure widely recommended by medical institutions. It is reported to have pregnancy rates comparable to natural conception.
Q: How is the syringe method different from artificial insemination?
A: Artificial insemination (AIH) performed at clinics involves collecting semen through masturbation, washing and concentrating it in culture medium, and having a physician inject it into the uterus at the most fertile time. It is typically performed as the next step when timing methods have not been effective. The syringe method differs in that it uses semen as collected without processing, and the syringe is designed from a safety perspective not to reach the uterus.
About the Semen Collection Sheet
Q: What is the semen collection sheet?
A: The Prement Semen Collection Sheet is a general medical device developed to make semen collection more hygienic and easier while minimizing waste. Traditionally, semen collection at specialized hospitals or at home involved ejaculating directly into containers such as collection cups, paper cups, or petri dishes. However, due to the special adhesive properties of semen, it would stick to the container walls, resulting in the loss of precious semen. Additionally, these containers have narrow openings, making it difficult for men to ejaculate without spillage. The Prement Semen Collection Sheet allows men to focus on ejaculation without worry, enabling hygienic and waste-free semen collection. Q: Where can the semen collection sheet be used?
A: The Prement Semen Collection Sheet features strong adhesive tape that can be attached and removed so that it can be used in various locations. The Prement Semen Collection Sheet Mini should be attached to the included holder for use. ※Please be careful when removing the seal, as peeling it off forcefully or attempting to remove it carelessly may damage the attachment area.
